Where's that mallet - robert, 27/08/2007, 23:15

Time to kick the blog posts back into life... *BANG* *THUD*... *CRASH*. Right, that's better. So here I am nearly half a year on with another blog post, being written on a Mega-shitty-bus destined to Edinburgh, from Inverness (I was only on one some six hours ago going the reverse direction!). At the time of writing I'm somewhere near Aviemore. I'll explain why I don't have my car at the moment in a bit.

What's been going on exactly? Well, a lot, but at the same time, not a lot... For the past nine months I was in a dead end job I needn't mention. Tomorrow, this all changes. After four years out of education, I am once again a student. I've been living in Edinburgh since May continuing the same shit job in a different location. Having finally truely worked out what I want to do in life, I'm going to Edinburgh's Telford College on the two year HND course "Creative Industries: Television". This makes a lot of sense, indeed the fact I got in was mainly due to my own experience in the subject. I even included a DVD of my most recent work (more on this in a bit) which helped a lot. So yeah, I start tomorrow on what I hope is a new start in life for me. I just wish I had the car...

The pug failed its MOT as expected a month ago. Fair enough, knew it was coming. Off it went to my mechanic friend to sort out. Bad idea. The poor guy is pretty ill (but didn't admit it to me initially) and has ended up in hospital. As a result of this I've now got my car back after a month of struggling with buses, but it's still not MOT'd and still needs a bit of work done on it *SIGH*. Now I have to juggle getting my car through its MOT while it's 160 miles away, and get used to the whole student thing.

I said I'd expand on the video thing above, to do this I need to explain a bit of what I got up to over the absolutely pathetic summer we got this year. A friend of mine from Kent came up to Scotland and we spent some time doing some urban exploration. I decided to down the S5600 and pick up the NV-MX300 and only document the sites using video. I've only had time to complete part 1 of the two part video. You can download it here.

Right that'll do for now, typing on a cramped bus is tiresome. It'd be fine if the Windows 2000 RAS service hadn't destroyed itself, I could be sitting online via my GPRS card posting this directly rather than to a temporary offline file and chatting to folk on MSN and IRC. As things are this won't be the last time I'm on a megabus over the next few weeks, so I better get that fixed.

Expect more regular blog posts as I start a new life.
