Boleskine: The final trip - robert, 28/03/2006, 18:31

Click for albumWell, that's it. I think it's pretty safe to say that we've exausted the whole Boleskine thing. Last night we visited the Boleskine burial ground for hopefully the last time. After a visit to Tesco in the early hours of the morning for food as usual, we headed off. Pete had a bad eye and didn't want to drive so we all crammed in Ricky's Corsa. The journey down the B852 was a little scary due to the fact that it's mostly a single track road and there was thick fog! Further down the road the rain started. We arrived at Boleskine in the rain with fog swirling round us. It took quite a lot of persuading to get people to go down to the hut, mostly due to the rain more than anything else. In the end just three of us went. Pete K and Ricky stayed in the car - what a buch of wusses, a girl and a gay guy went for god sake (ok so I'm not a stereotypical gay but c'mon!)

I'm looking forward to being able to go out and not come back smelling like an ash tray or waking up so rough. I think peoples suggestions that pubs will close is untrue. The general oppinion I've gathered from people in Inverness, especially around my age, is that it's not going to stop them going out and most are all for it. It waits to be seen, but I expect to come into Hootananny's on a Saturday night and find it as impossible to move as it always has been. Pubs closing seems very unlikely.

On saturday I went to the GB3BI and Raynet AGM which was interesting. I'm also now members of the Black Isle Repeater Group and Raynet. Afterwards a handful of us went for a nice lunch at The Snow Goose which I hadn't been to since it opened some years ago.

Click for albumTo follow on from my previous post, we did go to Boleskine again. This time there was a larger group of us. We must have done the most inefficient pick-up route ever. We spent a long time picking people up and went to Tesco about 3 times! This time I had my camcorder with me and took a number of videos which are on page 3 of the gallery. The most downloaded so far is the one from ...
