Click for albumToday was a fantastic day, so I decided after work to go the route I did 2 blog entries ago. This time, however, I went through Smithton and on via the old road under the South line to Inshes. The total detour was about 7.5 miles. The ground was a lot drier this time, not so much icky squishy mud. I did however have mud guards this time, so the little there was I was protected against!

I decided to confirm if there was any way under the A9 and the answer was soon clear - no! There is definately no way through from what I can see, and it agrees with the OS map. I also went hunting for the bunker, which I knew was near the bridge and railway line. I looked to my right after coming off the bridge, and saw a concrete block with rusty foot holds up the side! Ahh ha what is this I thought. I scrambled over the fence and went to it. It was right next to the railway line, I was glad I waited for the 17:12 to pass. Closer examination leads me to the conclusion that it could may have been an entrance to a bunker. It's long been filled in with concrete though, the entrance anyway...

I continued round as before, stopped to take a few more photos and check out that other bridge. I then went round and down the A96 towards the Smithton roundabout, glad it ...
