Where's that mallet - robert, 27/08/2007, 23:15

Time to kick the blog posts back into life... *BANG* *THUD*... *CRASH*. Right, that's better. So here I am nearly half a year on with another blog post, being written on a Mega-shitty-bus destined to Edinburgh, from Inverness (I was only on one some six hours ago going the reverse direction!). At the time of writing I'm somewhere near Aviemore. I'll explain why I don't have my car at the moment in a bit.

What's been going on exactly? Well, a lot, but at the same time, not a lot... For the past nine months I was in a dead end job I needn't mention. Tomorrow, this all changes. After four years out of education, I am once again a student. I've been living in Edinburgh since May continuing the same shit job in a different location. Having finally truely worked out what I want to do in life, I'm going to Edinburgh's Telford College on the two year HND course "Creative Industries: Television". This makes a lot of sense, indeed the fact I got in was mainly due to my own experience in the subject. I even included a DVD of my most recent work (more on this in a bit) which helped a lot. So yeah, I start tomorrow on what I hope is a new start in life for me. I just wish I had the car...

The pug failed its MOT as expected a month ago. Fair enough, knew it was coming. Off it went to ...

First post of the year - robert, 04/03/2007, 01:09

...and it's March. Yep there's been so much (mostly bad) shit going on recently I haven't felt like posting in a long time.

I have written this article though. It's a report on my visit to the Tain ROC (Royal Obersver Corps) bunker and is the closest thing to a blog post you're going to get!...

OMG! A post! - robert, 09/10/2006, 15:47

Ah yes, that blog thing. What ever did happen to it? I got too damn busy and constantly tired, that's what happened to it. Oh, and my site was down for a month. Oh dear, I really should get this sorted out and start posting again. The thing is, so much has gone on over the past while that I can't possibly find the time to do big write ups for every event. Back on the 23/06/2006 I did start a blog post. It was related to the Highland Cross. I was with RAYNET covering it. Here's how far I got:

It only seems to be RAYNET events which get me up early at weekends. This was no problem on Saturday however as there had been bugger all going on all week so I had got enough sleep. RAYNET were covering the walking section of the event, from the start to the bike changeover at Affric Quarry, where I had been for the Affric Duathlon. Willie picked me up at 9:30 and we set off. Andy GM0UDL had some hefty beams pointing our way the whole trip and maintained contact all the way down the A82, into Glen Urquhart and on into Glen Affric. Willie was continuing on to White Cottage while I was being dropped off at Control at the quarry. We arrived to a cup of tea and I joined Norman and Iain in the midge filled control "kabin". By this time the event had long been kicked ...

Grr.. - robert, 21/09/2006, 21:20

Ok... I really really need to start posting again. For some reason I've been too busy or knackered to feel like writing stuff... maybe because I have so much stuff to write about (from putting it off for so long) *slaps head*...

I'm back! - robert, 25/07/2006, 09:06

Woohoo the site is back online finally! All hell broke loose at the data centre where the box was located and it's taken Tom a while to get things sorted. Many thanks to him for getting it back up though!

I have a hell of a lot to blog about, a lot has happened over the past month (major thing being I have a car). I also have a mountain of photos to upload. Now I just need time to do all this...

Quite a fun weekend - robert, 12/06/2006, 12:07

Click for album. This morning a sequence of events occurred which made me wonder if there's a man upstairs controlling the world entirely for shits and giggles. Everything was fine this morning, on time, no problem - until, that is, I was most of the way to work. Splat. A gull obviously thought it would be highly amusing to shit on my right shoulder. I was not best pleased. I was even less pleased when I walked in the gates to work and D-Ream's "Things Can Only Get Better" started to play. It's not the first time my iriver has decided to play this after some event which has pissed me off, which brings me back to my aforementioned wondering. (Although indeed some may question why I have this song on my iriver in the first place). Not to worry, there's no sign that it ever happened now, so I'll get on with documenting the weekend happenings. I have a fair bit to recall and write, so while the time is now 09:12, I suspect it'll be some time until this is posted - I'm only typing bits in between work.

A fairly busy and good weekend it was. Last night I went to a sort of Hoots staff BBQ at Mikes, didn't eat much more than a couple of marshmallows as we'd arrived late (in a failing Death Cab - it's constantly misfiring - with any luck it'll be something simple such as the spark plugs or leads). The others played ...

Waterfalls and watermelons - robert, 07/06/2006, 10:36

Click for album.F**king hell. Yes, I'm on the 7:30 shift and have been participating in more late night shenanigans, boy am I suffering now - bed for me when I get home. I think the last time I was this tired (and only once before) I called in sick. It's going to be a very long day. Anyway, yesterday ended with a watermelon being lobbed from Rose Street car park. Pete had mentioned to me earlier in the day that a road trip to the Falls of Foyers was in order and by the evening we were still up for it. Ricky had picked up Todd, Euan and a guy called Sean who I wasn't so familar with. They went to Starbucks. To cut a long story short, by the time Pete had had his dinner it was about half 10 and was getting dark. Having had time to get stuff together, I remembered to bring a map, torch and PMR handhelds. The torch was very much needed at the falls and the PMRs even more so later on in the trip.

At this stage in writing I've become too tired to think up what to say, so the rest of this will have been written and then posted once I'm home and have slept. Edit: I went to bed when I got home, had something to eat, then slept through to this morning so I'll continue, a day late...

After filling up at Tesco inshes, we headed out the Dores ...
